There are only 200 2016 Hikari Edition STIs (100 BRZs) allotted to Canada, and there must have been at least 5 at this season opener.
Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) is hands down one of the most friendly groups of people I’ve come across over the past two years exploring the car scene in Southern Ontario. Yes, there are the occasional bros but at it’s heart, these are people who genuinely enjoy their cars and everything that revolves owning a Subaru. They’ve grown so much that they are very publicaly recognized by Subaru Canada so much so that the group has been invited to several private launch events. Not to mention the handful of very reputable workshops in the area that bring out fun toys and goodies for the members every once in a while.
The club may only have two major events each season (Spring Fling, Hyper Meeting) but my experience as an attendee has me looking forward to future Subaru ownership.
Still editing photos, more to come.

I love that color!

Same here! I thought it looked good on the XV at first, but it looks even better on the STI.

Coming to c&c this weekend?

I agree. It will be a tough decision if I ever have the chance to buy a new STI, hyperblue or WRB.... Decisions, decisions.

Seconded. Personally I’d go with the Hyper Blue just because it’s so unique in the realm of Subarus, but of the cars I’ve seen so far it doesn’t play as nice with different levels of lighting as WRB does.
The deciding factor would be options: if you can find a car that has a similar package like the series.blue (Aozora Edition in Canada) where it adds exterior elements, then maybe I’d sway towards that.

I agree, I’d probably go with the hyperblue just because it is different from all the other WRB’s that are running around. I really don’t care how it looks in different lighting. I do know that I will never ever buy another white Subaru. I’ve had nothing but problems with it, from rust (I live in MN, second only to MI in the use of salt), raildust and its NEVER clean.

Go HyperBlue, you won’t regret it.

Someday, I hope it’s not a one year color but is instead more like the Plasma blue pearl of the previous generation.

I gotcha. Also driving a white car atm as well, not fun trying to keep the thing clean and any paint blemishes are impossible to hide. :(

I believe they’re only making 700 STi’s in that color total, not sure if that’s going to be a multi year run.

It doesn’t help that Subaru doesn’t do the greatest job of painting cars. I’ve thought about getting it repainted a different color many times but I just don’t have the extra cash on hand to justify the expense. Plus I need a new hood, and to repair or replace my front bumper, right fender and rear bumper. I hit a deer a few years back and took the insurance payout to help pay for my wedding. I have thought about a carbon fiber hood just cause I do like that look. But it looks like that will be another year off again. Plus there is the dream of building a 818C out of car in 10 years as a project when my son is old enough to help and be part of the process.

I think getting it wrapped is still cheaper than painting, no? I know for sure it varies with the size of vehicle, but if you have underlying panel damage I guess you can’t escape it. My Acura being 12 years old now, I’m starting to see that discoloration between the metal and the plastics which kind of annoys me.
Project cars seem like so much fun haha I’ve looked into an Exocet after seeing one in person last summer, but I just don’t have the capacity as a student atm. Living vicariously through the owners that bring their cars out to the events I attend isn’t too bad for now tho.

I only ever manage to make it to the Minneapolis Cars and Coffee once a year so I don’t get that luxury and I don’t know of any in Duluth or surrounding area. That’s why I decided to finally create a kinja account and start talking out my ambitions here, my wife has finally started ignoring me when I start talking about cars.

If they had Hyperblue in 2013, I would have gotten that color over my red FRS. Looks so good!

Haha fair enough, though I barely see any red FRSs as it is - most of them are just the regular colour palette and the BRZs are automatically WRB. Actually, I think I’ve seen more TRD Series 1.0 than I have just the regular red FRS LOL.
